Age of Grace

In this age of grace don’t miss your opportunity to partake of the salvation that God has so freely bestowed.  Salvation was freely bestowed on you at Calvary.  Everything that was accomplished on the cross you were included in that provision, “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:30.

This being the age of grace, God placed you in Christ in the fact that you were covered by all His work on the cross.  Check the verse out: “But of him (God) are ye in Christ Jesus….” According to this verse God placed you in Christ in His redemptive work.  “…..who (Christ) of God is made unto us (you) wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” You are included in Christ by God in that He made Christ all of these things for you.

Now, if He made Christ all of these things for you; then you must come as the Bible has said: a sinner and make Him yours.  How: by trusting (by believing) that Christ is all these things to you because God has said so: He is made unto you wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.

Don’t miss Him who died for you!  Go to Him today and place you soul in His care against the day to come. John said in 6:37 “…and him that cometh to me; I will in no wise cast out.”   Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:12 “….I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

1 Timothy 3:15

Behavior in the house of God is behavior in the Local Church: Speaking of our actions, attitude, obedience and outreach.

Not speaking of a building but rather as a group of people.  We really need to understand the correct definition of a church:

@The house of God, Hebrews 3:6: the Church

@The Church of the living God - The assembly in which God lives and works; where each member  is a living stone, all of whom, properly united among themselves, grow up unto a holy temple in the Lord, Ephesians 2:21-22

@The church — “the congregation.”    He is the fountain of “truth,” and the foundation of our “trust”

1. Labor for the LORD in your Church is service to the one great house of God. As each Local Church is a part of the House of God, and each Christian a lively stone:   A Lively stone in that certain local church.

2. The Organism through which God works today. The Local Church is“The Pillar and ground of Truth” The Church, which is this local congregation, is the organism through which God works today.  We are called the salt of the earth, the light of the world.  As a “Pillar” it upholds  or supports the truth.  The full revelation of fellowship.  The Truth is revealed to the church, not to the world, 2 Corinthians 4:1-7 . That is why we are to preach the word, 2 Timothy 4:1-5.

A. God works through people that are saved and united in a local church.   One of the greatest failures being made by people in 2013 is making their selves absent from church.  Their rational is I am saved and a member of the body of Christ.  That is wrong reasoning!  You may be in the Body of Christ but you have been placed in this local church.  Therefore Hebrews 10:25 applies to attendance in the Local Church.  Where else are you to go to Church?

B. A  Required Behavior is Attendance. Why is it important to be in attendance?  Several reasons:

(1) Commanded by God.

(2) Must be present to hear His Word which gives faith, Romans 10:17

(3) Must be present for Him to work His Word in us, Ephesians 2:21-22 . “In Whom”  being Jesus Christ.  “All the building” means people for a building is not in Christ but rather the people being the building.  This building is an “Organism” it is growing so it is people.  Fitly framed together - The word used here means “to joint together,” as a carpenter does the frame-work of a building.  Different materials (people) may be used, and different kinds of timber (people) may be employed, and one part shall be worked into another, so as to constitute a durable and beautiful building: Which is the local church, “In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit, Ephesians 2:22

(4) Must be present to meet with the LORD on the day of Worship, Ephesians 2:22.  He is present in body of believers.  You should go to your Local Church to meet the LORD on the Day of Worship, which is Sunday.

(5) Must be present to grow. This building is an “Organism”: The Local Church, Ephesians 2:21

Facts that the LORD Wants us to Know About Him

“He is the God of Our Salvation”2 Corinthians 5: 19-6:2

Lest we ever forget Salvation is from the LORD, Psalm 3:8 “Salvation belongeth unto the LORD…” When David had sinned he prayed in Psalm 51:12 “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation…”

All who believe can say,  “Salvation is of the LORD”, Romans 4: 24,25.

The Father says to the Son: “(….I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured (helped) thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Listen to the LORD’s Prayer: John 17: 1-4, 9,15-20.  Christ is asking for the grace of God in your behalf.

What is the Accepted Time: This age of grace in which we are Living.  This is the well Accepted Time, Psalm 69:13,  “But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me , in the truth of thy salvation.” Today is the Day of Salvation, Hebrew 5:7

This is God’s Time of receiving sinners, Isaiah 49:8 “Thus saith thee the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in the day of salvation I have helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people…” This is His time to receive sinful man:  He said, “Come unto me”  Matthew 11:28-30.

Song: He Receiveth Sinful Man.  John 6:37.  From Calvary until now

He Receiveth Sinful Man.

Sinners Jesus will receive;
Sound this word of grace to all
Who the heav'nly pathway leave,
All who linger, all who fall.

Sing it o'er and o'er again;
Christ receiveth sinful men;
Make the message clear and plain:
Christ receiveth sinful men.

Come, and He will give you rest;
Trust Him, for His word is plain;
He will take the sinfulest;
Christ receiveth sinful men.

Sing it o'er and o'er again;
Christ receiveth sinful men;
Make the message clear and plain:
Christ receiveth sinful men.

Now my Heart condemns me not,
Pure before the law I stand;
He who cleansed me from all spot,
Satisfied its last demand.

Sing it o'er and o'er again;
Christ receiveth sinful men;
Make the message clear and plain:
Christ receiveth sinful men.

Christ receiveth sinful men,
Even me with all my sin;
Purged from ev'ry spot and stain,
Heav'n with Him I enter in.

Sing it o'er and o'er again;
Christ receiveth sinful men;
Make the message clear and plain:
Christ receiveth sinful men.
The Ames Hymn Collection

This is your time to receive His Grace, 2 Corinthians 6:1-2.  What needs to be done:  Accept His Word of Reconciliation, 2 Corinthians 5:19- 21

Isaiah 49:8

The Messiah is asking for the grace of God in behalf of sinners; this verse contains God the Father’s acceptable answer. Christ is the Gift of God – In others words Christ is God incarnate.  He is the” Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the World” Isaiah 9:6 – He is God.

an acceptable time — “In a time of grace”. .

heard thee — ( Heb_5:7).Heard Christ.

day of salvation The day of salvation is “to-day” (Heb_4:7).

helped — given Thee (Christ)the help needed to enable Thee (Christ), as man (The God-Man,Christ) to accomplish man’s salvation, John 19:30.

Salvation is of the LORD and He has provided it for you in The Son of God.  That is His promise to you.

Luke 16:1-13

Just where do I fit, what am I here for, what is my assignment in life are questions that require an answer.  Sadly most people never really find the answer.  To answer this question we must understand what we have already been assigned:  We have been assigned a Stewardship! That is established back in Genesis 1:26.  Before we go on let us determine who or what are we serving or who do you want to serve?

In our quest for the purpose of our life our search is about money: How much will I make, what are my benefits, when can I retire, etc.  All of these things are important but we need to understand how money relates to us in the Economy of God.

None of the money that passes through our hands is ours but we make our decisions as if it is ours and that is where the rub comes.  We are Stewards put in charge of wealth that is not ours to see how we manage it.

Our Stewardship of mammon, money, has everlasting consequences. We have been given, by the LORD, our wealth to bless others, to help others: “And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitation. Luke 16:9. This unjust steward turned this to his advantage by showing mercy to the poor or those in need. Proverbs 19:17 “He that hath pity upon the poor landed unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will be pay him again.” God’s Word is true! Mammon, or Money is the least of that which is true: Luke 16:10 “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is in unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

Our Stewardship of mammon, money, determines if we are to be trusted with true riches: Luke 16:11 “If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

Our Stewardship of mammon, money, requires faithfulness.  Four (4) times in 3 verses: Luke 16:10,11,12 we are told to be faithful in the handling of our money.  Because we are handling the LORD’s wealth that has been committed to our trust: “If ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s…”

We need to answer the question who is our master, who am I serving?  We are told it is impossible to serve two (2) masters.  “….Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Everything comes back to how you see Christ:  Is He just a good man or is He The Son of God.  Finding your place in life starts with knowing Him as your Saviour, John 17:3

2 Thessalonians 2:1-17

We do see a falling away from the old paths as taught in the Word of God.  There is the introduction of a new morality, a new way of thinking but it is not good.  It is not according to the Word of our LORD and should be rejected as false.  Also, we are warned about another gospel, which is not another.  We are told to reject all that is contrary to the Word. This type of falling away has always been upon us and is not the falling away of 2 Thessalonians Chapter two.

The man of sin that is to be revealed is the anti-christ.  Man of sin means man of “lawlessness”.  The anti-christ is just basically an outlaw.  He is lawless, ruthless.  He doesn’t care about what he says for he is not a person of his word.  Question:  When will he be revealed? Answer: After the rapture of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

2 Thessalonians 2:4 takes place at the mid-point of the Tribulation well after the rapture.

2 Thessalonians 2:6-7 tells us something is restraining his revelation:  What is it? Answer:  The rule of law.   The lawless one cannot come on the scene until the rule of law is gone, Daniel 7:25, 8:25, 8:26, 7:8, 20, 8:4, 10, 11.

The Rule of law will be taken out at the rapture when we are taken out.  When we leave that set the stage for the Tribulation.

2:8 takes place at the end of the Tribulation, Rev. 19:15, 20

2:9-12 The people who believe the lie of the anti-christ  during the tribulation.

Therefore these verses are not describing us for the church will have been taken out.    There were many who thought that the same fate would be there’s and Paul was writhing to tell them this was not the case and not even in their time.  In 2 Thessalonians 2:13, he made the distinction between believing the gospel and not believing the gospel.

1. The importance of being saved, The saved of the church age will not be here in 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2. The leave in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.  When you believe you find out you are beloved, 1 Cor.2:7, 2 Timothy 1:9

2. “Chosen” does not imply eternal selection, Duet 2:7.  Here it means to take for one’s self: chosen for kindness and love, Titus 3:4-5, Luke 19:10 He came to seek and save the lost.

3. Sanctification of the Spirit: Cor. 1:30.  Here it means that relationship with God into which we enter by faith in Christ: It is not separation from evil things.  Consider the following: Acts 26:18.  It is what He is doing in you: Col. 1:22, Heb.10:10, 29.

4. Belief of the Truth: not just the truth but The Truth (Christ).  It’s meaning:  it is a conviction respecting God and His word regarding your relationship with Him which is established by the
Gospel, Eph 1:13.  In  verse 12 they did not believe the truth and in verse 13 he said but you have:  What a difference!

If Christ came for the church tonight would you be left to enter the tribulation?

If you reject Christ your fate is described in Heb.10:29.

God established salvation in His Son, Heb.13:12
