Matthew 7:21-29

Rom_13:11  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.  1Co_15:34  Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. Eph_5:14  Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

A.  "Knowing the time"....."It is high time"; In other words now is the time!  We need to wake up!

B.  "Awake to righteousness and sin not"  There are people that need the gospel. He said that is to our shame.

C.  We are living as if we are dead, . Eph_5:14  Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

1.  We are dead to the Holy Spirit of God,  Ephesians 5: 15-21.

2.  We are dead to our placement in life, .  1Co_15:34  Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. Our placement in life is a place of submission/ obedience.  Ephesians 5:21. The Church, the body of Christ, takes the female place, called the Bride.  Christ is the Bridegroom, The Head, the Male.  We as His Body are in the place of submission to Christ our head, Ephesians 5:21-23  Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.   Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.   For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

What is said in the Bible about the Church is to the Local Church, for everyone who is saved.  If you are not saved you are not in the body of Christ and joing a church is not being saved.  1 Cor. 12:12-13, For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.  In others you can be in the Local Church and not be saved because you are not  in the Body of Christ and you are dead in trespass and sins.  You need to be saved.

Jesus used illustrations, examples to teach a truth, a doctrine.  In our text Jesus said, "....I will liken him..." and again "...likened unto a ....".   It is rather foolish to built without a foundation.  It is time to wake up to our Saviour, "...Christ shall give you light. It is time to know Him as your Saviour.  The Bible uses likeness to illustrate a truth.

A.  He used manna as a type, John 6:48-51 &58

B.  He is a type of the Rock in the Wilderness John 7:37,  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.; Exodus 17:6, Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Now look at   ICor.10:4   "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." The Rock was smitten one time, Christ died one time for our sins, Hebrews 9:25-28.     Moses later in Number 20:8 was to speak to the Rock but he struck it. After being saved we are to speak to our Saviour, 1 John 2:1-2; Christ cannot died again, for He is alive forevermore

3.  We are dead to the work that our Saviour left for us to do,  The "sin not" means the sin of leaving people in darkness of the knowledge of Christ. Too experience the blessing of Christ in our life as His Child is to be "Awake" and up viewing eternity and our place in it.  2 Cor. 4:17 "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;"  2Co 4:18  "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."

If we are not awake to the work our Saviour left us then we are not alive toward Him:  John 4:35-36, " Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together."

A.  He said, "lift up your eyes" John 4:35.  B. He said, "  And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together"  John 4:36.

We need to "Awake" and began to live (our time) unto theLORD , sacrificially

We need to "Awake" and began to give unto the LORD sacrificially..  Give that which cost you something.

We need to "Awake" to Christ and know Him as our Saviour. 1 John 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
