The Unsearchable Riches of Christ

"The Riches of Christ"

Ephesians 3:1-20

October 29,2017

Pastor Roger Redmond

All things were know by the LORD but all things were not revealed from the beginning but in the process

of time.

In Deu_29:29  The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.  We find our LORD did not reveal everything but in the process of time made His Will known.

A.  He did not reveal all at the time of Creation. For example,  from the beginning, the creation of man was in His Mind .  In Titus 1:2 , we see the promise of a Saviour before man was created. In fact long before Genesis 1:1,  He promised to saved man before man was created.  In 2 Timothy 1:9, we get a glimpse into eternity past

It is my opinion , the creation of Earth completed the creation of the Universe.  Our LORD's plan for man was not know by any of the angels or satan, before the fact.  The Word of God says, "Let us make man in our image"," us"the God Head.  That was a complete surprise to him (satan).  And then man was given dominion over the earth, Gen. 1:26.  satan could have though he should have the dominion,  after all he was the highest in order of angels.

B.  He did not reveal the mystery of the Church to the disciples, In Matthew 16:16-18 Christ speaks of the church but does not explain it to them.  Acts 1:6 He did not explain to the disciples about the 2000 years in which we are living.

C.  But God chose Paul to bring the Gospel to us the Gentiles and to preach the "Unsearchable Riches of Christ" He is a chosen vessel, Acts 9:15  But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

When you are reading in the books of the Bible which Paul wrote under inspiration remember what Paul said:  For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: Eph 3:1-2. He was chosen of God to bring the message of the Grace of God, Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:17-18

1.  We are living in the time of  revealed truth, Romans 16:25-26 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: It was foreshadowed .  It was veiled but now it is made known.  But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.  Gal. 1:11-12.

It is no longer a secret or mystery; the gospel of Jesus Christ is made known for the obedience of faith. "For the obedience of faith": you are to believe the Gospel of Christ, Romans 1:16    For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Faith in Christ is obedience to God.

2. This is the dispensation of the Grace of God, Ephesians 3:2  If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: For both Jew and Gentile.  God is not dealing with the Jew as a nation as He will be in the Tribulation and Kingdom.  Today is the time of grace, the Church Age, the Body of Christ. The Age of Grace is no longer a mystery Ephesians 3:3-6.

A.  Our text says His riches are "Unsearchable": The quality or state of being unsearchable, or beyond the power of man to explore.   Unsearchable; that cannot be searched into and understood by inquiry or study. The designs of the emperor appear to be inscrutable. That cannot be penetrated, discovered or understood by human reason.  ( from Noah Webster 1828 dictionary)

They cannot be measured, they cannot be solved, they cannot be exhausted , it is impossible to reach their depth.  Can you by searching find out God?  His riches are as unsearchable as He is! Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; Eph 3:17  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, Eph 3:18  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;(of Christ) Eph 3:19  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

B. The blessings of Christ, which no man can describe or detail is the Gift of God brought about through the Love of God for you and me.   The Unsearchable riches of Christ can only be described by you: who is Christ to you, what is Christ to you; it does not matter who He is to another - It is only what you say about Him that will matter for you!

That means there is no battle in your mind (and that is where the battle rages) beyond the power of Christ to help you.

That means there is no condition of your soul from whence you cannot come.  Your access to God has been opened by the Unsearchable riches of Christ.

He is to you today whatever you need maybe!  Your need maybe salvation. It maybe forgiveness for a wrong decision,  You may have lost your purpose by sorrow, disappointment.  You may have quit and said what is the use.  But yet Paul said, Eph 3:8  Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

3. We must preach the unsearchable riches of Christ. Paul felt the inability to make clear the unsearchable riches of Christ. Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Eph 6:19  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

A. Why should you preach the unsearchable riches of Christ: that all people might know the wealth of Christ. Ephesians 3:9  Eph 3:9  And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

B. The Gospel that Paul preached.  So often Paul said, "My Gospel". That is the gospel God gave Paul to preach. 1Co 15:1  Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 1Co 15:2  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 1Co 15:3  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1Co 15:4  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

How did he received it? Gal 1:11  But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. Gal 1:12  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. So all other gospels preached that add to Christ are false.

The gospel of your salvation is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ for you.  Eph 1:12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Eph 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

The Word of Truth that you heard is the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for you; that is the Gospel of your Salvation!

One of the most beautiful songs ever written is "One Day".  The song details the story of our salvation.

One day when Heaven was filled with His praises, One day when sin was as black as could be, Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin, Dwelt among men, my example is He!

Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me; Buried, He carried my sins far away; Rising, He justified freely forever; One day He’s coming—oh, glorious day!

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain, One day they nailed Him to die on the tree; Suffering anguish, despised and rejected: Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!

One day they left Him alone in the garden, One day He rested, from suffering free; Angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil; Hope of the hopeless, my Savior is He!

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer, One day the stone rolled away from the door; Then He arose, over death He had conquered; Now is ascended, my Lord evermore!

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming, One day the skies with His glories will shine; Wonderful day, my beloved ones bringing; Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!  He is yours - Tell Him you rest in His finished work.
