Acts 8:26-35

July 16, 2017

Pastor Roger Redmond

Strange as it may be to the unsaved; the truth remains that only sinners will be saved.  And even stranger to the unsaved is that only saved people go to heaven.  Tit 3:5  "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Tit 3:6  Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;" After all it was Jesus who said, "......They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Mar 2:17. There will be people who miss heaven because their hope for heaven is based on personal deeds and not on the Word of God and the testimony of Christ.

In this world's economy, success is measured by quantity; in other words, the more you have the greater you are in our society.  I don't know how you measure the greatness of a person and I am not sure anyone does. We know from the Bible, when Christ comes, His reward is with Him to give to every man according to his work.   And that is for the saved.

The unsaved will carry no significance into eternity. Isaiah 65:19. So what have you achieved if you have gained all but yet you were lost?  Mat_16:26 " For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" What has a person profited if no home in heaven awaits them?  Or to the saved what have you profited if empty handed you stand before Christ at the JSOC?  Therefore greatest is evaluated by Christ. So who is greatest in the Kingdom of God?

We have a story before us about the importance of one interested sinner. It is evident the LORD wanted us to have this story. "..... and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans."  There is no doubt other people were saved but we don't have their story.  But God gave us this account about "One Interested Sinner" This message contains three (3) major thoughts"

1.  The Interest of the Sinner,

2.  The importance of the Servant,

3.  The internal working of the Holy Spirit.  Let us read Acts 8:26-35

The Interest of the Sinner: He was religious but not satisfied.  He was a sinner and uncertain about his standing with the LORD. Act 8:27-28 " And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship," "Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet." But did not understand the gospel but had a great interest, Act 8:31 "And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him."

"May we think about the Word Interest for a Moment?"

Definition of interest: "To concern; to affect; to excite emotion or passion, " from Noah's Webster's 1828 dictionary.

Just plain old concern for one's own soul. eternal destiny, our eternal significance.  In our present time, Instead of concern, we have unconcern.  The interest is in having fun or entertainment.  I think one of the reasons God gave us this story is to show us the need to have an interest in eternal things: our relationship with Christ. To know we are saved, to be ready to die. To be ready to die is to be ready to live. (Illustration Allen & Steve).

The truth about eternal things must stir our interest if we are to be blessed,

Exo 3:4  "And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I."

The LORD saw Moses and God called to Moses: by name twice!  Moses knew the voice and said "...Here I am". The LORD is concerned about the one as He is the masses. He spoke to Moses and He responded to the interest of The Ethiopia Man. He was interested enough to want to Know!

Christ is found by the hounding sinner, (will not stop until he knows) 1Ch_28b ".... if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever."  The invitation is to come, Rev 22:17  "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." This man was seeking the LORD through the light he had.  Act 8:32  "The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:" Act 8:33  "In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth."

Christ is found by the helpless sinner. It is when you come to the end of yourself effort you find Him, "And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. " Acts 8:31.  He was not ashamed to ask for help.

Christ is found by the Hearing Sinner. He heard the preaching of the Gospel and was saved.  Act 8:37  "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God".

There must be someone who brings the truth of Christ

Rom 10:14  "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"

Second, there is the importance of the servant. Act 8:35  "Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus." . Two things of utmost importance: 1) The message. 2) The Servant, (God uses His own).

Let's look at the Servant first because he is mention first in verse 35.  There must be someone to deliver the message

· He was a follower of Christ, a disciple of Christ.  In short, he was a person who had taken up his cross and went after Christ.

· He was a deacon.  Regardless of our place of service.  I believe, and it is God's expectation, for His own to be doing something external, visible for Him.

· He carried the message of Christ.  In our vocation, in our labor of love, in our visible place of serving the purpose for it all is the gospel of Christ.

As Stewarts of God we will be held accountable for faithfulness, 1Co_4:2  "Moreover it is required in

stewards, that a man be found faithful." We have things God has put us in charge of, or an overseer of,

things we are to manage: our time, our emotions, our mind, our deeds (works), our finances, our vows

(things we said unto to the LORD ( we would do).  All of these are to be done as faithful.

Phillip had many works to do for the LORD but there was one purpose for it all and that was to carry the message of Christ.

Second, let note the message.  It is the message of Christ that people need!

The message is given in the Word of God.  The Bible is the text book of the Church. Acts 8:32. "The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:"

Please note 8:33 "In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth."

"In his humiliation..." He was made low - through no fault of His own! But by our sin, 2 Cor. 5:21. He was a made laughing matter to those for whom He came.  Just go to the cross and listen.  "...his judgment was taken away..." He was tried as a criminal and was denied the right to justice.  He did not speak for himself.  The depths of His humiliation is much greater than addressed here:  The Perfect Lamb of God took our sin and died as our sin bearer. His life was taken from the earth.  He sits at the Father's right hand.  Hebrews 1:3.

A question is asked that must be answered:

".... and who shall declare his generation?" Who will tell the truth about Him?  Who will explain His Humiliation?  Who will take His side?  Who will stand in His place and be identified with Him?

The man had enough interest in the welfare of his soul to ask "And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?" Acts 8:34.

So Philip stood in Christ stead and took Christ's part and declared His truth, Act 8:35  "Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus." Act 8:26  "And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert"

A person can go to heaven without health, wealth, fame, fortune, a great name and without any other thing but cannot go without Christ.  Who will take His part - If not you who?

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44

Third the Inner working of the Spirit, Act 8:26  "And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert." It is the angel of the Lord here and in 8:29 it is the Spirit that is directing! Why are there two and both at the direction of the Father? " For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" It is the Father who has loved us and saved us.  It is He that has all power.  Rom 4:24  "But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;" Rom 4:25  "Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."

The divine instinct in the spirit of man is to worship.  Disobedience in the matter of worship is a learned disobedience, Mat 13:15  "For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."

The truth is quite simple: if you can shut your ears to hearing you can open your ears to the truth.  If you can shut your eyes to the truth you can open your eyes to the truth.  Joh 3:19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Joh 3:20  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. Joh 3:21  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

The problem is not with the Spirit of God but with Self - Sin, and Satan.  There is a loss of interest in Eternal Things.  You have but to read the seven letters to the seven churches.  You see the same today. The lack of interest in personal worship, you see it in personal devotion, you see it in personal service, and you see it in personal sacrifice.

The Bible teaches us that being saved is a present matter. When we believe, we receive eternal life. Once we believe, we receive. There is no need to wait or to hope. Salvation is not something that happens after death but is a present matter. Since believers are already saved (John 5:24), unbelievers are already condemned John 3:18.

Every believer can know whether or not he has eternal life. People often think I can only hope that I am saved, and I can only know if I am saved after I die or at the time of judgment.’ This is not the teaching of the Bible. The Bible teaches that a person can know whether or not they have eternal life in this age.  And further more there is no General Resurrection to determine the saved and the lost.  Your eternal destiny is determined by what you do with Christ by faith, John 3:18. "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

He who believes has eternal life, is justified, has peace, and is saved. We only need to ask ourselves whether or not we have believed on the Lord Jesus for eternal life. If we have not believed, we will perish. If we believe, we are a people who have eternal life. He who believes has eternal life, John 6:47. When we believe, we have eternal life. We know that we have eternal life not because we think or we feel that we do, but because God tells us so. 1 John 5:11-13.

Pastor Roger Redmond

Psa. 42:1-4   " As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.  My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday."

"Schindler (d) gives three reasons why these creatures are so desirous of water; because they were in desert places, where water was wanting; and another, that being heated by destroying and eating serpents, they coveted water to refresh themselves; and the third, when followed by dogs, they betake themselves into the water, and go into that for safety;" From Gill on E Sword Psa. 41:1

House of God / House of the LORD are mention many, many times in the Bible.  David said, " I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD".  Psa. 122:1. Why would David say, He was happy to go to Church.  He was glad to go unto the House of the LORD.   Answer:  Because he needed the LORD! Why does the Word of God gives such an exhortation about public worship of the LORD in  Hebrews 10:19-25, because we need the LORD!

Psalms 100:1-5

100:1 The spirit of worship is universal.  It is the LORD who has put within man the spirit of worship.  It is satan and then sin that robs of the desire to worship God.

100:2 Serve the LORD  is equivalent to coming into His Presence, which is worship.  And we are to do it with gladness.

100:3 Know that He is our Creator and Redeemer.  We don't belong to our self.

100:4 Because of Christ we can enter into His presence.  Into the Holy of holies.

100:5 Heb 13:8  "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

But What does Worship mean to me and you?

I am glad to go to the house of the LORD" because of the help He has promised,  Psa 115:13-14  He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

· You respect the LORD by the decision you make.  By how you conduct your life.  Respect is honoring the LORD.  1 Sam. 2:30 "...Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed."

· Two things He is saying here: (1) If you respect me, you will honour Me.  (2)  If you do not respect me, you despise Me.   There is a promise and a warning here.  If you respect/honour Him, He will bless you.  If you disrespect Him, you will not receive His blessing.  "Lightly esteemed " means: you respect your sin, disobedience more than the LORD.

· You respect the LORD by the life you live, Hebrews 12:1"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, "

Heb 12:2  "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." What is the weight the LORD is asking you to lay aside?

I am glad to go to the House of the LORD" because of the revival that I need, Psa 80:18-19 " So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.  Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved."

· Within the church today, there is a spirit of complacency.  Amos said, "At ease in Zion". No sense of urgency.  Illustration:  A Pastor had got up in years and suffering from altimeters.  Forgot everything and living in a nursing home.  Got up every day and dressed in his suit and tie.  He never forgot he was to go worship his Saviour.  There are masses of people that are not suffering from Altimeters who don't remember that much for whatever reason.  Every person knows their cause of lack.  It is nothing more than leaving your first love, Rev_2:4  "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love." That is the words of Christ to the Church

· Within our society today, there is a spirit of anti -christ.  Our society is against Christ.  It has always been against Christ.  You have but to read the Bible!  John 1:11  "He came unto his own, and his own received him not". Joh 1:12  "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"

· Within the church today there is a spirit of luke warmness, Rev 3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. The pretense of walking in fellowship with Him makes the LORD sick. Living in pretense hinders and dulls the mind, Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Rev. 3:17.

· Within our society today there is a spirit of rebellion. In the home, in the church, in government. I listened to President Trump's Speech and he said, Pastors, are to have the freedom to preach and teach what God has put on their hearts.  I am not quoting his exact words. But that was the point established.  He has done more for religious freedom that any President I know.  And at the same time has faced more rebellion in these six months than any that I know of.  Rebellion is a sin, 1Sa_15:23  "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king." You may say, "What Rebellion:  It is whatever authority you are rebelling against

I am glad to go to the House of the LORD because of the Forgiveness He has

provided Psa 22:15 " My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws;

and thou hast brought me into the dust of death." Among other sufferings, He suffered intense thirst.

He said, "I thirst". He who made the rivers cried, "I thirst". He gave me Living Water but for that

Water He had to die!

Song, "I thirst"

One day I came to Him, I was so thirsty

I asked for water, my throat was so dry

He gave me water that I have never dreamed of

But for this water, my Lord had to die

[Chorus]

He said, "I thirst," yet He made the rivers

He said, "I thirst," yet He made the sea

"I thirst," said the King of the Ages

In His great thirst, He brought water to me

Now there's a river that flows as clear as crystal

It comes from God's throne above

And like a river, it wells up inside me

Bringing mercy, and life-giving love

As I threw the limb on the fire that day, the limb was me and the fire was hell and that was my destination.  I could find no reason within me for His mercy or His grace.  But yet in my great need, He gave me the peace I never dreamed of!  But for my salvation, He had to die!  Do you realize that He died for you?

I am glad to go to the House of the LORD for the truth that I need. 1Ti 3:15  "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." When you read this in the context of the preceding verses, there is no question he is speaking to the local church and the matter of attendance and worship.  He talked about the Pastor, the deacons all these are the offices of the church. 1 Timothy 3:1-13. In verse 14 Paul said, hoping to come shortly.  Where was he going to come?  To the Church House.

God is going to hold you accountable for the truth.  For the truth that is taught and preached in House of the LORD.

Don't get upset at the Preacher because of the Truth.  Dear Lord don't get mad at me because of the truth.  His Word endures to every generation!   The LORD established marriage:  that is why He made man and female.  You are not to live together without the marriage ceremony!  That is according to His word.

We need a turning back to the LORD, Hosea 14: 1-4

We need to see, with the eyes of understanding, the reality of heaven and hell, Luk_9:25 " For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?"

We need to return to loving Christ, Rev_2:4  "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."

We need a return to faithfulness to our Saviour's expectation for us

We need a return to Church Attendance, Bible Study, and Prayer meeting.

We need a return to obedience to Christ and living for Him

Philippians 2:5-8, John 19:30

Pastor Roger Redmond

The world may boast of great minds but there has never been a mind liken unto the "Mind of Christ.  Great minds may sing their own praise and may lay claim to their accomplishments but yet man is only the offspring of the creator. Act_17:28 -29 "For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device." Even the least in the Kingdom can say they have the mind of Christ.  1Co 2:16 " For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ."

One has only to read from Psa. 139:13-17 to see the wonder of their creation, i.e. 14  I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.. How foolish for one to live outside the claims of The LORD Jesus Christ.

The Mind of Christ

The thoughts of our mind are the foundation for our acts, the things we do.  Christ left heaven and came down to us that He might be our Saviour. Php 2:5-8  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

It is important to see the person who would submit himself to such a death and accomplish such a work and declare "It is finished." Who is He?  He is Christ,  the Son of God.  He is deity.  It is the Incarnation of God. John 1:1-2. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.  John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

It is important to see what He knew before submitting to the death of the Cross.  It is so amazing; He knew before hand but yet He came for you and me.   Before coming, He knew of all that would take place and what would be required of Him.  Psalm 22 allows us to see the cup from which Jesus drank.  And in that cup was suffering.

1. He knew the agony of bearing our sin, Psalm 22:1; 2 Cor. 5:21; Isaiah 53:6-7.

2. He knew the agony of being mocked, John 19:1-3, Psalm22:3

3. He knew the agony of humiliation, Psa. 22:6-7.  The Son of God was disrobed.

4. He knew the agony of suffering, Psalm 22:14.

5. He knew the agony of thirst, Psalm 22:15.  He who made the rivers cried, "I thirst". He gave me Living Water but for that Water, He had to die!

He knew the agony of betrayal.  He chose the disciples and one He chose betrayed Him.  Why would He do that?  In light of all the suffering, He would endure why did He come?  In Hebrews 2:17 we can in part the answer:  Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.  For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. He experienced the agony and therefore knows how we feel. That is why we can sing "What a Friend we have in Jesus.  He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

The next time you are tempted to sin: remember the price He paid for you, But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. John 20:31.   Joh 11:27  She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

What does believing that Jesus is the Christ mean?

1.  It means complete rest in Christ as your Saviour. John 14:1-2.

2.  It means complete confidence in the plan of God for Salvation, Romans 4: 20-25. Christ is God's plan.

3.  It means totally relying on Christ as your Saviour, John 6:47.

There are not three different things to believe.  Each one means the same thing.  He is the Son of God and did come into the world, 1Jn 1:2  (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

If He had a mind to be our Saviour and endure the suffering to accomplish that work of Redemption, then we should have a mind to take up our cross and follow Him.  Will there be any half hearted Christians in heaven?  There will be people saved yet so as by fire.  But let me say this:  No one plans to be saved yet so as by fire!  No one wants to be!  They will say at the JSOC: I didn't intend to be!  What happened?  Got careless, put off discipleship, got caught with no time to make things right!

We are to live for Christ

Luk 9:23-27  "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God."

If you are to live daily in fellowship with Christ you will need to take up your cross daily and follow Him. You as a Child of God cannot live in fellowship with your Saviour and at the same time ignore Christ in your daily life.  "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth". Col. 3:1-2. Paul said, "I die daily". What did he mean?  He meant that he die to self each day.  It is a daily following Christ.   It is a daily dethroning of self.

To deny self is not something that can be finished and got out of the way; it must be done daily.  That is how and why Christians have lost the joy of their salvation.  They have left their first love, that love for Christ and willingness to serve and obey at any cost. ".... and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.  And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. I John 1:3b-4.

When you live for self,  there is no peace of God in your soul or fellowship with your Saviour.  You have peace with God because you are justified by faith, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" But not the peace that come from being obedient to Him, Luke 9:23ff.

But yet, He comes to us with compassionate advice,   "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see" Rev. 3:18

Anyone who hears His counsel discovers they are loved by Him and accepts correction from Him Rev 3:19  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

When a soldier picked up his cross and went off to war it was with the understanding he would not return. And so it is with you following Christ.  You take up your cross daily and follow Christ daily.  It is a way of life.

There is an old saying and it is a true: you never doubt in the dark what God gave you in the light.

1.  Don't neglect the biblical  principles you have already learned. Don't let things slide you have already believed and practiced.

2.  Don't question the  promises of the LORD when you are being tested.

3.  Don't quit! Return to the LORD and  get up and start again.

4.  Don't  forget the importance of faith and obedience to Him.  If Worship, Study of God's Word, Giving, Morality and Serving are not important then why are they in God's Word?  If your life does not matter then why are we warned about the JSOC?

Revelation 21:5-10

June 25, 2017

Pastor Roger Redmond

The effect of this chapter on you is like the first day of spring after a hard winter.  It is the chapter of no mores and the chapter of new things.   Some people like old things but I like new things.  This is not only new things it is a new order.  "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new...." I am amazing at people who can make things.  A wood carver can take a block of wood and see the end results.  Estill Richardson can take a blueprint and a piece of steel and he can see how it needs to look.  He stands there and explains to me how it will look after the first cutting the second and so on.  I don't see a thing but a piece of steel.

But the LORD made something out of nothing,  Heb 11:3  "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." He did not take flesh, bone and blood and make man, Gen 2:7  "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

"Science has proved that the substance of his flesh, sinews, and bones, consists of the very same elements as the soil which forms the crust of the earth and the limestone that lies embedded in its bowels." From JFB on E-Sword, Genesis 2:7

But he breathed into man life!  Our life was not given in the same manner as our body was created.  Psa 139:14  I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Psa 139:15  My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Psa 139:16  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

He will make all things new in the New Heaven and the New Earth.  Rev_22:3  "And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:"

Words God spoke from the Throne

Rev 21:5  "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful." I believe God Himself is speaking here.  In the context of this scripture, the Throne and the One sitting on the throne and The One speaking is the One God (The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit).  The mission of Christ from the Father was to present us faultless before the Throne, Jud 1:24  "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy," It is said of the Church, " That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." Eph. 5:27.

It is God, who provided Himself the "Lamb," that is presented.  He is the "Alpha" and the "Omega", the source of all things.  All things begin and end with Him.  He promised before the world began, Tit 1:2  "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;". He gave in the fullness of time. Joh 3:16  "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." He will dwell with us forever.  Rev 22:3  "And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:"

Fourteen (14) times in this book John was told to write. Twice (2) he was told not to write.   In Rev. 1:11, he was to write what he sees.  In 1:19, he was told to write, "Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;" In Rev. 19: 9 "And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God." In Rev. 21:5, "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."

The Words that are True and Faithful

When we come here in the Book of Revelation, the emphases is on His Words.  They are faithful and true: they are to be heard and believed. You can rely on them.  They contain a truth for you.

1.  You can receive Eternal life from Him, ".... I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely." As the Alpha and the Omega, He is the source of all things; the source of life. You can take freely of Christ, Joh 4:14  "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

Rev 22:17  "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."

"It would be impossible to say anything more magnificent about God. At first sight, it might seem to remove God to such a distance that we are no more to him than the flies on the window pane. But what comes next? ‘To the thirsty, I will give water without price from the fountain of the water of life.’ All God’s greatness is at our disposal. ‘God so loved that he gave …’ (John 3:16). The splendour of God is used to satisfy the thirst of the longing heart" Barclay, W. (2004). Revelation of John (Vol. 2, pp. 230–231). Louisville, KY; London: Westminster John Knox Press.

The word from the LORD is to come, and the word from all who know Him is to come.  The invitation is to come.  If you hear His call you can only say, "I come". And then lest any would still be unsure of their inclusion, He broadens the net by saying are you thirsty for forgiveness, to know Me? Then say, "I come".  He broadens the net by saying, do you want to be saved, to have eternal life? Then say, "I come to You for Eternal Life".

There is a Fountain Filled with Blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins

How could the LORD  give such a sure and inclusive invitation.  Remember the LORD said, "these sayings are true and faithful" How could He say to the thief on the cross, Luk 23:43 ".....Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." In just a short time, Christ would die for him.  How can you be sure you are included in the word "Come".  When Christ died for the thief, He died for you.  Christ died for all.  1Pe_2:24  "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." 2Co_5:14  For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

It is faithful and true that God included you in all the work of Christ, 1Co_1:30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

You were included in Eternity passed, 2Ti 1:9  "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began," You are included at the Cross, Isa 53:6 " All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.". Therefore you are included in the word "Come".

Have you believed the lie of the world, your sinful nature, and the devil?

Gone from our lives today is that sense of urgency to know you are saved, to please God, to die to self that we might be alive unto our Saviour.  The world, the flesh, and the devil have crowded out a Thirst for God, a fear of hell.  We live today for our self.  We need a revival, we need to be endued with power from on High.  We need a hunger and thirst for righteousness.

If you are to have a home in Heaven you must take of Christ as your Saviour.  If you are to be an overcomer you must take up your cross and serve Him. Listen to Him Rev. 22:3 "And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:"

2.  There is a promise to the over comer, Rev 21:"  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." Who is an overcomer?

A. One who seeks to suffer for Him, 2Ti 2:11  "It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 2Ti 2:12  If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:  2Ti 2:13  If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself".

B. One who seeks to serve Him, Rev. 22:3.  If you are not serving Him now you don't suddenly change and start serving Him in eternity.

C. One who seeks His face.  If you seek His face you walk in the Light,1Jn 1:7  "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  1Jn 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

D. One who seeks to be ready for the JSOC.

1. leave all and take up your cross and follow Him. Luk_14:27 " And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple."

2. Walk in the Spirit. Gal_5:16  "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

3.  Do all for Him. 1Co_10:31  "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

4.  Have respect for the recompense of the reward. Heb 11:26  "Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward."

Rev 19:9  "And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God." Since this call is issued after the JSOC you must conclude that not all, from the JSOC, are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.

It is a wise person that takes to heart the matter of living for Christ.

3.  His Words concerning the Lake of fire. Rev 21:8  " But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

The Lake of fire is the second death,  which is the end of all the unsaved.  The question is what will be your end?  Where will you spend eternity?
